This is my very first pair of needles, which I learned to knit on nearly fifteen years ago at age 12.
A teacher who worked at my middle school would graciously give up her lunch hour every day to share her knowledge and love of this beautiful (and useful!) art form. She was so inspiring, and I'm so grateful to her for giving me such a wonderful skill.
Today, after some little test runs here and there, I begin a new chapter for Slope Girl Knits--teaching children and adults how to knit-- and I'm a mix of thrilled, nervous, excited and grateful. I only hope I can measure up to my own first teacher, and inspire a new class of knitters and creators the way she did for me.
To new adventures!
